Description

This highly diverse wetland prairie mix includes every species we currently grow that is naturally found within Willamette Valley wet prairie ecosystems. Designed to reflect the full hydrological diversity of native wetland prairies, the mix contains a broad range of sedges, rushes, grasses, and wildflowers adapted to varying seasonal moisture conditions across the landscape.

The included graminoid species occupy distinct hydrological niches, ranging from Spiked Bentgrass and Sawbeak Sedge in the wettest portions of the site to California Oatgrass and Chamisso Sedge in slightly drier prairie areas. A similarly diverse selection of native forbs provides ecological function and seasonal bloom throughout the habitat gradient. Species such as Puget Sound Gumweed and Slim-leaved Onion thrive in wetter zones, while Slender Cinquefoil and Tall Checkerbloom establish well in areas with less prolonged winter standing water.

Together, these species create exceptional pollinator habitat while also providing important structure, cover, and food resources for a wide variety of wildlife. Ideal for wet prairie restoration, habitat enhancement, mitigation projects, and ecologically focused landscapes, this mix offers both outstanding biodiversity value and strong long-term ecological resilience.

Note: This mix can also be ordered without grasses.

Note 2: This mix contains Lupinus rivularis which is a biennial. We HIGHLY recommend NOT mowing this mix until the second fall after sowing so that the L. rivularis can bloom and then set seed during the second year.
