Description

This resilient native seed mix was developed for restoration sites where persistent non-native pasture species such as Tall Fescue and Wild Carrot continue to compete despite thorough site preparation efforts. The included species were selected for their long-term competitive ability and adaptability in challenging restoration environments, making this mix especially effective for degraded prairie and pasture conversion projects.

The blend performs particularly well when over-seeded following a burn, where reduced competition and exposed soil create favorable conditions for native establishment. In addition to long-lived perennial species, the mix contains seven native annual species that readily respond to soil disturbance events such as tilling or gopher activity.

As buried seed is exposed through natural or mechanical disturbance, these annuals can rapidly germinate and establish, creating seasonal flushes of native wildflowers that increase pollinator resources and ecological diversity across the site. The result is a dynamic, adaptable planting that supports long-term habitat restoration while improving resilience against invasive competition.
