Habitat

Upland Prairie & Savannas

Description

This upland prairie mix includes the full range of upland prairie species we carry and was developed to support the growing need for native prairie restoration throughout the Willamette Valley. These species are specifically adapted to dry upland habitats and are well-suited for restoration projects, pollinator habitat enhancement, and low-input native landscapes.

The mix is best sown in the fall to naturally satisfy the germination requirements of the included species, particularly those requiring cold-moist stratification periods ranging from several weeks to several months. Fall sowing allows even the slowest-establishing species sufficient time to develop healthy root systems before entering summer dormancy.

Blooming from April through August, this diverse mix provides season-long color and ecological value while supporting a wide variety of native pollinators, butterflies, and beneficial insects. Its broad species diversity helps create resilient prairie habitat that closely reflects the structure and function of native upland prairie ecosystems.
