Willamette Heritage Native Seed originally started as a native seed division of Heritage Seedlings and Liners, supplying high-quality native prairie seed for restoration, conservation, and sustainable landscaping across the Pacific Northwest. We currently offer source-identified seed of over 100 species of native Willamette Valley prairie wildflowers (forbs), grasses, sedges, and rushes — many of which are not available from other growers.

Our native seed program began in 2002 in response to a growing need for locally adapted Willamette Valley prairie species, particularly upland forbs, for large-scale habitat restoration projects. Over the past 25 years, we have practiced prairie restoration on our own farms while refining methods for establishing high-diversity native plant communities that support pollinators, wildlife, and long-term ecosystem health.

Most of our source seed for field production is collected by program staff from wild populations throughout the Willamette Valley, including prairie remnants and roadsides. Each species is collected from numerous populations to help preserve and enhance the genetic diversity of our seed stock. Some of our most valuable collections come from habitats that have since been altered or lost due to changes in land management and development, helping ensure these important regional genetics continue to survive in restored landscapes.

Our source-identified native seed is genetically adapted to local conditions, supporting successful establishment and long-term ecosystem function. Whether you’re restoring farmland, creating pollinator corridors, or building sustainable landscapes, our seed helps maintain the genetic diversity essential to thriving native plant communities. We also grow threatened and endangered species under contract for reintroduction to protected sites.
